VROAAM! OPEN CALL FOR DESIGNERS

On Thursday the 25th of March 2010 the second edition of Vroaam! will be held. A career day especially for designers.

For this day, BNO organizes in cooperation with DROPSTUFF.nl an Open Call with incredible prices.

We are looking for artistic games, whereby the public is asked to interact with the artwork.

The 3 best and most innovative end results will be presented at Vroaam! And will be included in the digital collection of DROPSTUFF.nl. That means that your work will be shown on 25 DS_HOTSPOTS, in museums and schools all over the Netherlands and on big screens on Amsterdam and Utrecht Central Station.

The prices are:Vroaamcampaign

1st price Adobe CS4 Web Premium worth 2269 euro

2th price 3day BNO Academy course worth 763 euro

3th price BNO Academy course worth 313 euro

The 5 contributions that just didn’t make it to the top 3 will receive an annual subscription to the specialist journal DZone, worth 50 euro (from 2010)

The deadline for contributions of elaborate concepts is the 20th of February 2010. The 3 best contributors have the time until the 21st of March to realize the game before the presentation and prize giving on the 25th of March. This will be held during Vroaam! on the 25th of March 2010 at Pakhuis de Zwijger, Amsterdam. All selected contributors get free entrance to the event.

Check www.vroaam.nl for (Dutch) information about the event.

Content and technical conditions for contributors

Contributors create a DROPSTUFF.nl account before entering the contest.

An important condition is that the audience at our mobile pavilion or DS_HOTSPOT can interact with the work. Meaning that the audience can participate through movement sensors, Text Messages, a touch screen or Bluetoothtechnology (means that are installed in our hardware).

DROPSTUFF.nl strives for a rich variation in interaction possibilities, with special attention for online coupling and (urban) gaming. Our preference are artworks that connect different locations through the DS_HOTSPOT network.

Within your DS_Account you can send us a concept, a CV and maybe some pictures. Attention: in the first instance you don’t send us an artwork but a description of your idea. This had to be send in before the 20th of February 2010.

If you’ve received a reaction from our redaction, you will be send a digital framework (Flash). In the end you send us by post or by a server your end product.

Professional artworks have a resolution of 1152 by 320 pixels and will be shown fullscreen on the DS_HOTSPOT network. All DS_HOTSPOTS are connected through internet, by means of content, webcams and microphones. That way, interchange is possible between different locations.

The end product has to be delivered as a .swf Flashfile in Actionscript 2. It has a maximum playing time of 10 minutes. DROPSTUFF.nl offers online technical support concerning the connection of your work to our technical program. We do not offer production.

Your end product has to be send in before the 21st of March 2010.

Participation, copyrights and mentioning.
